...created by artist Nicole Schofield. She hails from the smallest state in the USA, Rhode Island, where she earned a degree in Art Education from Rhode Island College.  Here she fell in love with the manipulation of metals and the plotting to pull off construction.

After an extended travelling stint and art hiatus, Nicole has settled down on a vineyard in Central Otago where she can keep all her art supplies in one spot.

In 2015, Nicole worked with a little help from her friends to convert a 20 foot shipping container into an inspirational studio space. Using 80% scrounged and found materials, The Container Bernadette is a work of art unto herself. Running on solar energy, there is no stopping creativity in sunny Otago!

Looking to learn more and realising the need for qualified manufacturing jewellers in New Zealand, Nicole enrolled in a formal apprenticeship program through the Jewellers and Watchmakers of New Zealand. She completed her trade certificate in 2021 with Master Goldsmith, Cromwell's own, Les Riddell.

A not uncommon story (Surly!), she bought a vice with nowhere to put it. 20 feet became 40 feet.
